Edinburgh 03/06/2022

We arrived in Port Edgar Marina just after 9am yesterday. The passage from Hartlepool was fairly quiet with no real dramas aboard, apart from Wilson falling asleep at the wheel. It barely got dark in the night which kept Harry quiet. However the temperature in the wheel house was arctic, every blanket and duvet was wrapped around us. Suddenly the diesel heater we had intended to put aboard was remembered and much desired. Port Edgar has had millions of pounds spent on it over the last few years, although it seems that none of that money has actually made it into the marina facilities. Instead fancy restaurants line the water front offering lobster with lashings of champagne... not quite catering for the every day yachtsman's budget! However, we did settle down here for a pleasant lunch. Harry and Noah chose to head into Edinburgh for a few drinks and some gourmet supper, whilst Peter chose to occupy one of the water front restaurants. We are currently half way down the Firth of Forth with 28knots of wind on the nose.... it isn't comfortable! The bow is slamming a lot! The wind is due to drop as the day goes on, but it is safe to say we are going to have a pretty roly passage to Inverness. Harry is flying around downstairs making the boat secure and stumping up the courage to operate the galley for some bacon and eggs (duck and mashed potato for supper is currently looking optimistic!!!) Looking forward to picking up 2 more crew members to transit through the Caledonian and Crinan canal tomorrow and some much shorter legs ahead - Harry and Noah could do with a good few nights of uninterrupted sleep - Wilson sleeps a lot!

Harry has fitted a low watt bar heater on in the wheel house which we hope (optimistic) might keep us warmer tonight - we have a fan heater aboard but it uses more energy than our engines can provide at 2kw. Onwards!!!!
