22/06 to 26/06 2022 Kilmore Quay to Scilly Isles and then to Newlyn

We have had terribly weak Wi-Fi on board the boat since Kilmore Quay so apologies for the radio silence. Noah's "SnapChat" obsession seems to gobble up the bandwidth! I will do a photo dump in Falmouth tomorrow providing we get in to a decent marina...

We refuelled in Kilmore, over €450... again. We were allocated a convenient berth just next to the lifeboat and a short walk to the village. We were all pretty knackered so we went and had a pint of Guinness at a nearby pub and decided we would have fish and chips aboard because most restaurants were not serving food until the weekend. Wilson said it was the worst fish and chips he has ever had.

We left on the 22/06 at 13:15 with a view to arriving the following morning in the Scilly isles. It was a beautiful day and loads of wildlife including a lot of dolphins playing around us for hours, stunning. A large whale also crossed the bow slowly.

Noah cooked lobster for supper as we continued down towards the Scilly's, delicious! Ed and Peter did the first watch from 20:00 until 23:00, whilst Harry and Noah went to bed. Noah then went and took over until 02:00 and then Harry took over - very dark. Wilson took over alone at 05:00 but Harry couldn't sleep so came back up at 06:00.

A beautiful morning with dolphins greeting us in the islands - we moored up in a very tight group of moorings, safe though. A water taxi took us ashore and we had a lovely lunch outside on the terrace of a local restaurant - even managed to get Wilson to wear sunglasses! After lunch we went for a potter and an ice cream, we left Wilson in a park to read the paper and of course someone came up to him and recognised him from the White Hart in Aldeburgh - honestly, we can't take him anywhere. Back to the boat and Harry, Ed and Noah jumped off and went swimming - Wilson was lifeguard. Later the night Izzy Murray a friend of Harry's spotted he was in St Mary's Harbour and came aboard with some friends for a drink - very nice to catch up.

Woke up the next day to driving rain and high winds on the beam, not comfy. Harry, Noah and Ed went ashore for showers and breakfast - too dangerous for Wilson to get in the inflatable. The three found a lovely pub "The Mermaid" and had a full English and quite frankly 5 pints because it was chucking it down and there was nothing better to do!!! Noah discovered Rattler cider - not sure this was a good thing, anyway it made him happy!

We agreed sadly to leave the Scilly Isles at 5am on 25/06 because the outlook for the weather was absolutely horrendous for the foreseeable. So we were either stuck on a mooring for a week or make a great escape to Newlyn - that's what we did.

We are now in Newlyn and the weather is lovely and plan to head towards Falmouth tomorrow in another gap in the wind, but then forecast to pick up again on Tuesday to 40 knots.

Right there we are - up to date, off to The Red Lion for lunch!

I really hope I can keep this more up to date going forwards...

Harry
