15/07/2022 Hamble, collecting Kajsa and towing her to Cowes

We arrived on 10/07 into Hamble marina and popped to a local pub "The Bugle" for supper. Funnily enough we bumped into Fiona Mulchay (the AYC Commodores daughter) and stopped by the local yacht club and said hello.

The following morning Tim Hannon drove Kajsa (Peter's 30 sqm sailing boat) down from Aldeburgh to Hamble (4am start for him!) and we set off further up the Hamble to meet him at 9 ish on Maud.

Kajsa was launched and it appeared she had gained a bit of a thirst for the solent having been out of the water since October...! She was taking up, a lot! The battery had failed so the two electric bilge pumps didn't work and then whilst Tim was using the manual pump that also gave up the ghost. Wooden boats! We managed to abstract one of Mauds 9 battery's and ferried it ashore to get something going before she sank! She doesn't have an engine to save weight (Peter took it out a few years ago so that's why she relies on a support vessel - Maud in this case.)

We had her alongside through the Hamble but once in the solent Harry and Noah hopped onto Kajsa whilst she was towed behind - one to bail and one to steer!

Once in Cowes Yacht Haven we sorted Kajsa out and she is now floating nicely and yesterday Harry polished her and today is thinking about stripping back the varnish and reapplying to smarten her up a bit. Noah as gone cruising with one of the chaps he sailed across the Atlantic with and should be back on Sunday! We have got Toby Clayton and Tim joining us on Saturday afternoon!
